Fiscal 2027 Adopted Budget

Statement of Stephanie Hill Wilchfort, Chair of the Cultural Institutions Group (CIG), on the Fiscal 2027 Adopted Budget

NEW YORK, NY (June 30, 2026) β€œNew York City's investment in culture in the Fiscal 2027 Adopted Budget affirms a simple but powerful truth: culture is essential to our city's identity, economy, and future. Every day, our institutions create opportunity and strengthen our city. The cultural sector is a powerful engine of economic opportunity, generating $110 billion for the city, supporting jobs, strengthening neighborhoods, and inspiring the next generation of New Yorkers.

We are deeply grateful to Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Speaker Julie Menin, Deputy Speaker Nantasha Williams, the New York City Council, Deputy Mayor Julie Su, and Commissioner Diya Vij for recognizing the vital role of arts and culture by renewing $30 million and baselining an additional $10 million for the sector in the city's Fiscal 2027 Adopted Budget. This enduring investment gives cultural institutions the stability to sustain our workforce, plan for the future, and expand access to the transformative power of arts and culture for New Yorkers in every neighborhood across all five boroughs.”
