Manager, Membership Marketing and Operations—Membership

Our Membership program is poised for rapid growth as the Museum prepares to present a series of exhibitions highlighting both our mission and our serious commitment to social justice. To meet this expansion, we are recruiting a Membership Manager who will organize digital marketing campaigns, support direct mail campaigns, and maintain Membership records to ensure that our systems are efficient and effective. The Membership Manager will help the team make data-driven decisions and demonstrate the value of Membership support through data gathering, analysis, and visualization.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
Five years of experience in a museum or similar membership-based organization, or in a data-analytics role
Ability to pick up new tools quickly and to identify inefficiencies in systems and processes
Facility with data analysis, balanced with powerful communication skills, in order to effectively convey data-driven insights to a variety of stakeholders
Experience with direct mail campaign management and email marketing
Strong organizational skills, sharp attention to detail, and an appetite for problem solving
Excellent time management, capacity to handle multiple tasks, and ability to prioritize among competing deadlines
Diplomacy and enthusiasm when working with staff, volunteers, Museum Members, and the general public
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Experience working with fundraising software, such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce CRM, or similar fundraising databases, as well as ticketing and marketing platforms
Responsibilities:

Calculate a variety of metrics for the Membership program, including conversion and retention rates, ROI, and lifetime value
Identify new membership trends, technological innovations, and tools to ensure that our membership program is trailblazing, inclusive, and accessible
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team on email campaigns and newsletters and identify areas of opportunity
Create weekly Membership fulfillment reports, and work with an offsite mail house on timely delivery of Membership materials
Manage the auto-renewal program, which includes tracking credit card denials and reporting on the overall efficacy of the program
Create and schedule emails for the Membership department, including new Member welcomes, acquisitions, and renewal reminders
Report regularly on revenue, active Member count, and demographics of Members
Regularly review records for accurate, consistent, and clean data, working closely with the Development Operations team
Provide support for membership campaigns, including direct mail acquisition and upgrades and digital ad campaigns
Review mailing lists for direct mail campaigns and monthly renewals

Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, occasional weekend and evening hours required.
