Senior Manager of Digital Content (Email and SMS)—Engagement

The Brooklyn Museum seeks a Senior Manager of Digital Content to lead our email and SMS programs. The Senior Manager will be a key member of our growing Engagement division, responsible for reaching current audiences, targeting new ones, and encouraging people to visit and invest in the Museum. An experienced email and SMS practitioner with a blend of copywriting, project management, and analytical skills, the Senior Manager should be excited to help refine our voice online and comfortable leading their practice within a small digital team.

The responsibilities will include developing, executing, and evaluating email and SMS programs to grow our base of members, encourage attendance at events, sell the great items available in our shop, and help fulfill our institutional mission to bring people together through art.

The Senior Manager will help establish performance benchmarks, champion best practices, and perform regular testing to provide insights on acquisition, retention, and reactivation. The Senior Manager interacts with all departments, in addition to vendors and consultants.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and over five years of experience in email campaigning, preferably in a non-profit or advocacy context
Proven experience managing, creating, and deploying successful email programs as well as managing complex consumer databases and segmentation
Excellent writing skills with a keen eye for consistency, accuracy, and detail
Strong eye for design and compelling visuals
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to represent the Museum to outside partners, vendors, and interest groups
Strong organization and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Results-oriented analytical and reporting skills
Knowledge of basic best practices of SMS campaigning
Experience using MailChimp, Wordfly, or other mass mailing systems and related databases programs
Light HTML coding abilities
Responsibilities:

Serve as lead strategist for the Museum’s email and SMS programs, managing message calendars and audience segmentation to support Museum exhibitions and events as well as Communications, Shop, and Membership goals
Own and execute the Museum’s email and SMS campaigns from start to finish: create content, write copy, build, test, segment, deploy, and report post-send
Identify and implement new strategies and tests to engage and cultivate visitors and members, continually seeking to innovate and optimize
Develop and manage automatic/drip campaigns to re-engage inactive subscribers, send ticket reminders, nudge people about abandoned shopping carts, and more
Partner with the design team to manage the creative process, from creative strategy to delivery
In coordination with the Director of Customer Relationship Management, manage consumer database segmentation to segment audiences and make recommendations for future campaigns
Work closely with team members to set program benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs), track performance against them, and optimize to meet them.
Analyze email and SMS performance and report on results, communicating data-driven takeaways, recommendations, and clear actions
Serve as a key stakeholder in the implementation of a new CRM system, ESP, and SMS platform to accomplish our messaging, engagement, and membership goals
