The Senior Web Content Manager will be a key leader of the Brooklyn Museum’s growing Engagement division, working with staff across our team and the entire Museum to tell stories about art and the Museum’s activities on our website and associated mediums. As lead producer and content strategist for the Museum’s website, shop, and presence on the Bloomberg Connects app, the Senior Web Content Manager will use their writing, project management, and storytelling skills to make our content fun, informational, and accessible. They will also help shape the Museum’s online voice, ensuring that the new website is part of an excellent and inspiring experience for visitors, for Museum Members, and for art lovers around the world.
This is a two-year, grant-funded position, with the possibility of extension.
Qualifications:
Over five years of digital content–production experience at a media outlet and/or the digital wing of a mission-driven organization
Prior reporting and/or content-production experience, with a track record of producing standout, creative work that people enjoy reading
Excellent ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively
Strong eye for visuals and experience selecting and/or editing images for publication
Exceptional attention to consistency and detail
Exceptional organizational skills, ability to plan ahead, and proven track record of meeting deadlines
Capacity to manage different workstreams and projects simultaneously and ability to balance near- and long-term deadlines
Experience with content management systems and basic HTML
Experience with managing and mentoring a junior colleague is preferred, but not required
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary manager of content on the current and future BrooklynMuseum.org website. Lead the brainstorming, creative direction, calendaring, and production of content, including special pages and content streams for our new exhibitions, activations of permanent collections, messaging around institutional priorities, and more
Serve as lead storyteller, reporter, and content producer for the website. Work with Engagement, Publications, Programming, Education, Collections, and other teams to produce content that will inspire and delight website visitors. Work will include research, writing, and developing visuals, such as interviewing curators and conservationists about their work, helping the retail team write compelling copy for a new shop item, choosing archival images for a new “About” page, and beyond.
Lead the content planning and production process for the museum’s presence on the Bloomberg Connects app. Work with other Engagement team members, partners across the museum, and outside vendors to plan and help execute audio guides and other content to enrich visitors’ experiences through the app.
Supervise, mentor, and pinch hit for a Digital Content Associate who will be primarily responsible for working within our CMS to publish content, write drafts, and support the content production and publication process
Serve as a leader in our website redesign process, working with the Digital team and other staff to imagine, plan, and fill out the content of a new site and smoothly transition from one site to another
Work with Digital Services, Curatorial, and Publications to ensure images are cleared and that copy is on message, in our style, and free of errors; help manage content approval processes
Collaborate with A/V, videographers, designers, curators, and programming, education, and events staff to conceptualize and execute ideas that bring our on-site programming to life for remote audiences
Work closely with the Digital Project Manager to develop and implement improvements to internal publication and content production processes
Help assess performance of website content as needed
