UX/Content Strategist—Engagement

A key member of our growing Engagement division, the UX/Content Strategist will coordinate and collaborate with colleagues to help make the Brooklyn Museum website and digital platforms accessible, easy to use, dynamic, and fun. In addition to day-to-day tasks, the UX/Content Strategist will be a key leader in the redesign and rebuild of the Museum website, responsible for developing thoughtful, user-centered web products. One of the primary challenges and opportunities of this role will be to help envision and implement ways to surface and share our 1.5 million-object collection with a global community of art lovers, scholars, students, and teachers.

This is a two-year, grant-funded position.

Qualifications:

Strong background in content strategy, with over five years of experience with web and mobile products and content management systems and over three years of experience with UX research, including in-depth user interviews, contextual inquiry, participatory design, and usability testing
Proven ability to collaboratively define strategic visions for the role of content in a product and visually represent findings such that teammates can take action
Experience creating wireframes or journey maps with diagramming tools, such as LucidChart, and tools for designing wireframes or interfaces, such as InVision and Figma.
Portfolio of content work, including copywriting, that demonstrates thoughtfulness and user-centric approaches
Analytical skills to interpret user research to inform content recommendations
Positive attitude, sense of humor, and desire to build accessible products for all users
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
Strong analytical and project management skills
Responsibilities:

Help guide new site development and refinement, drawing on expertise in user research and UX standards
Work closely with internal team and external site redesign/redevelopment agency to define site information architecture and on-page content hierarchy
Create wireframes, mock-ups, and task flows that effectively communicate UX content ideas
Define content types and high-level relationships between them to aid in site transition; comfort with site audit and migration practices a plus
Work closely with other designers, developers, and editorial staff to create clean, elegant designs and interactions that ensure the Museum’s online content is as compelling and user-friendly as possible
Work with developers and designers to envision, plan, and execute a new collections discovery experience
Conduct on-site, remote, and in-field user research studies to map user journeys for a variety of user groups, including: visitors, members, non-visiting community members, scholars, and more
Plan, write, edit, test, and improve UX copy across user experiences, including interface language and navigational nomenclature
Work with editorial staff to optimize website content, organization, and metadata for greatest accessibility and search traffic acquisition; knowledge of WCAG guidelines a plus
