Director of Marketing and Communications

Wave Hill is seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications, a skilled strategist and talented wordsmith who will articulate the spirit and mission of Wave Hill to uplift its public profile, support organizational goals, and increase audience awareness and engagement. Answering to the President and Executive Director the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing effective seasonal and annual communication and marketing strategies both on and offline. The Director oversees Wave Hill’s website, social media engagement, email communications and marketing campaigns. This role is part of the senior management team and works closely with other departments to create engaging content and leads video and audio content development and production. The candidate should be a highly creative, big picture thinker who can use storytelling to inspire audiences.

The Director will lead a talented team of 3 staff members, an Associate Director, a Graphic Designer and a Social and Digital Media Coordinator. We are looking for a seasoned, dynamic individual who can inspire and motivate others in a collaborative, positive and inclusive manner providing opportunities for growth and learning.

Youth Programs Manager

The Youth Program Manager’s primary responsibility is the strategic development and oversight of two paid teen internship programs: the Forest Project (summer only) and the Woodland Ecology Research Mentorship (WERM) Program (14-month program). Both focus on providing immersive learning environments to underserved high school students in the field of restoration ecology, and include hands-on field work, academic learning, field trips, and research.

The Manager must have experience working with teens in an informal setting and demonstrate cultural competency to work with diverse audiences. This individual must have supervisory experience and expertise with teaching and developing content focused on urban ecological restoration and familiarity and experience with GIS technology. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Education.

Visitor Center Coordinator

Reporting to the Manager of Visitor Experience, the Perkins Visitor Center Coordinator welcomes members and visitors, provides seasonal information, and answers general visitor questions. Horticultural Coordinator

Reporting to the Director of Horticulture, the Horticultural Coordinator supports the Horticulture staff to ensure maintenance of the collection, facilitate acquisition and document Wave Hill’s plant collection. In addition, this position coordinates communication between staff, Friends of Horticulture (FOH) Committee members, funders and others involved in planting, interpreting, and supporting the gardens at Wave Hill.

Art Education Coordinator

The Art Education Coordinator provides creative input and art education guidance for various Education programs and developing art components of curricula. The Art Education Coordinator will manage the day-to-day operations of the Family Art Project (FAP), which immerses families in the pleasures and wonders of Wave Hill’s gardens, grounds and art exhibitions through hands-on, nature-based, art activities that encourage creativity and imagination. The Coordinator supervises staff, guest artists, volunteers and manages the Arts, Community and Environmental Stewards (ACES) program, a year-round paid internship program for young people, leading leads recruitment, training, and mentorship for the program.

School Programs Coordinator

School Programs at Wave Hill connect students to the natural world with high quality, personal, and hands-on experiences. The School Programs Coordinator facilitates and oversees all learning experiences for students in Pre-K to 12th grade including in-person and virtual academic year field trips, and summer camps. The Coordinator supports partnership programs/courses on a range of topics including natural sciences, art and local history, and teacher professional workshops.

Education Programs Manager

The Education Programs Manager is actively engaged with connecting school and family communities to the natural world with high quality, personal and hands-on experiences. This individual leads a team of full-time and part-time staff, and interns who support the development and implementation of dynamic programming.

Manager of Private Events and Tours

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Partnerships and Conferences, the Manager of Private Events and Tours is responsible for all aspects of managing the private event and tour business at Wave Hill. Each year, Wave Hill schedules approximately 25-30 private catered events held after public hours, and approximately 50 private tours per year.

Director of Visitor Services

The Director of Visitor Services reports to the Chief Operating Officer and plays a key role in the senior management team overseeing the department that welcomes all visitors. The position is responsible for the operational logistics that facilitate a positive visitor experience. The Director is the liaison with Horticulture, Arts, Business Development and Marketing departments to ensure programmatic and event logistical needs on the grounds are met. The Director works closely with Facilities to coordinate smooth and efficient operations on the grounds.

Registrar/Education Assistant

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Registrar/Education Assistant serves as the main point of contact for all Education inquiries, maintaining the departmental calendar and overseeing the reservation process for all school and camp visits. The position works closely with program managers to ensure successful planning, execution and post-program reporting for all education programs, including the Family Art Project, school and camp field trips and youth development internships.
