The Assistant will be responsible for maintaining the Salesforce donor database, processing acknowledgment letters, gifts, and memberships, conducting prospect research, and supporting special events. This position is an opportunity for new and recent PhD or EdD recipients to learn about museum practice, gain experience cultivating research partnerships with educators, designers, youth, and community members, and broaden their understanding of how high-quality informal STEM learning experiences can be designed, developed and implemented to serve diverse audiences. Postdoctoral Fellows will work with individuals with a wide range of perspectives and areas of expertise to conceptualize, define, and pursue research agendas focused on equitable approaches to informal STEM learning. Reporting to the General Counsel and COO, the Senior Director of Finance is the principal financial steward of the long-term fiscal health and viability of the Museum. As the principal financial officer of the Museum, the Senior Director of Finance has primary responsibility to provide strategic financial guidance and planning, treasury and investment management, and financial reporting and analytics to the Museum’s leadership and staff, to oversee the development of the annual operating budget and monitor actual results against the budget, and to manage the Museum’s investment, banking and institutional financing relationships. The Senior Director of Finance also supervises and supports the work of the museum’s controller in overseeing daily, monthly, and annual accounting processes.

Reporting to the Director of Building Operations and Safety, the Lead Building Engineer must be a proficient HVAC specialist responsible for overseeing MEP mechanical trades within the building's systems. The Lead Building Engineer will apply preventative maintenance practices and diligently address daily work orders from various museum departments. The Manager of Membership is a critical team member who will be charged with developing a robust, mission-aligned membership program. The Manager is responsible for raising approximately $500,000 in annual revenue through renewal and acquisition of over 3,000 members. NYSCI is pioneering innovative approaches to STEM learning and engagement, and developing new and refreshed exhibits and experiences that create an exciting environment for membership growth. The manager will translate these exciting opportunities to current and future audiences in order to enhance and communicate the value of membership. They will collaborate with colleagues on NYSCI’s fundraising, marketing, and public programs teams to initiate creative approaches to expand our reach, including digital marketing campaigns, online solicitation, onsite sales, and member events.

NYSCI is seeking a Research Manager to support the cross-departmental collaborations involved in NYSCI’s innovative research and development work. The Research Manager will work closely with the Director of Creative Pedagogy to plan, coordinate, and document the development, design, testing, and implementation of new NYSCI educational assets focused on engaging diverse public audiences with emergent, high-interest topics in science and engineering. This role will include a strong focus on designing for cultural responsiveness and inclusiveness for NYSCI’s highly diverse audiences. The Brooklyn Museum seeks a focused and detail-oriented Research Assistant for Textiles for a full-time two-year position to undertake cataloging, research, and reporting related to the Museum’s European and American textile collections. The candidate will work closely with the curators of Decorative Arts and Design to identify collection objects suitable for retention, display, and deaccession; write reports; prepare presentations; and conduct historical and art historical research. The Research Assistant will also aid in compiling possible institutions and auction houses for transfer of deaccessioned works.

A successful candidate must be detail-oriented and a creative thinker, with the ability to multitask. They should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a demonstrated ability to be well organized, and superlative research skills. The candidate should have extensive coursework in textiles, knowledge of the history of textiles (especially eighteenth- and nineteenth-century European and American textiles), and experience handling textiles.

The Museum Maintainer / Art Handler for Collections will be part of a team in the Registration and Collections Management department, handling art in the collections and assisting with storage initiatives.
