Development Assistant

The Assistant will be responsible for maintaining the Salesforce donor database, processing acknowledgment letters, gifts, and memberships, conducting prospect research, and supporting special events. The Development Assistant reports to the Individual Giving and Events Manager and works closely with all members of the Development team.

Associate Director of Membership and Annual Giving

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director of Membership and Annual Giving will help envision and execute all membership and annual giving efforts for gifts under $10,000. Through targeted direct marketing campaigns via analog and digital channels that include direct mail, email, website, and advertising, the Associate Director will establish strategic objectives and implement short-and long-terms tactics that leverage the Studio Museum’s brand and mission. The selected candidate will effectively grow awareness of the Studio Museum’s annual giving program, develop and implement a bespoke membership program, and increase our portfolio of donors as we enter the exciting next phase in the institution’s history.

Associate Development Officer, Individual Giving—Development

The Associate Development Officer is a skillful, detail-oriented, frontline fundraiser. Through the Museum’s Membership program and patron groups, the Associate Development Officer (ADO) personally identifies, engages, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of individuals to support the mission of the Brooklyn Museum. Reporting to the Development Officer, Individual Giving, the ADO will support the Individual Giving and Major Gifts team in all fundraising needs, with a special focus on the Museum’s six patron groups. We seek a forward-thinking professional who is passionate about the Museum and dedicated to developing ways to better serve our Membership programs and communities.

Director of Development Operations

The Director of Development Operations is a vital team leader and strategist, an expert in designing and managing systems, and a key member of the Development team who instills best practices in the science of fundraising. They are involved in a wide range of tasks, from daily activities to special long- and short-term projects that advance the functioning of a strong, effective Development department.

The Director of Development Operations liaises with the Finance department and monitors all systems to support Development’s donor management, analytical, and financial tracking functions. This position offers a unique opportunity to help lead the Museum’s strategic direction and shape our fundraising goals through harnessing data and other strategic insights. A core mandate for the Director of Development Operations is to centralize a suite of activity that is currently spread across the Development team and other key departments (acknowledgment letters, gift entries, reports, and data pulls, e.g.).

Success in this role will require an entrepreneurial spirit and eagerness to build on the existing foundation of the department to shape new approaches as the Brooklyn Museum migrates to its first CRM (Tessitura).

Senior Manager of Foundation and Corporate Relations

Development Officer, Individual Giving

The Development Officer is an externally focused, energetic, polished, and detail-oriented individual who personally identifies, engages, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of individuals who support the mission of the Brooklyn Museum with their philanthropy. Working closely with the Director of Individual and Major Gifts and the Senior Development Officer, the Development Officer will help to set the overall strategy and drive achievement of fundraising targets for the Brooklyn Museum’s patron program. The Development Officer manages the Museum’s high-level patron groups, strategizing and fundraising to meet annual goals, build membership, and create dynamic annual programming to engage current and prospective members. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented self-starter with a passionate commitment to the arts and an appreciation of the goals and mission of the Brooklyn Museum.

Institutional Giving Coordinator

The Garden seeks an Institutional Giving Coordinator to help grow institutional support from foundation, government (city, state, and federal), and corporate funders. The Institutional Giving Coordinator will work as a member of the Development Department to meet—and strive to exceed—annual fundraising goals by securing institutional support for education, horticulture, environmental, and cultural programs as well as technological, planning, and capital initiatives. The Coordinator will report to the Director of Development and will work closely with the Assistant Director of Development, Executive Director, Deputy Director, Director of Programs, and other key staff members. The Coordinator will be a gifted writer with the ability to synthesize complex institutional goals into compelling narratives for current and prospective funders and will be at ease interacting with institutional donors. In a role that also requires coordination and communication with nearly all QBG departments, the successful candidate will also exhibit a passion for the Garden’s multifaceted mission—especially our cultural programming, sustainability and environmental initiatives, and educational and youth development work—a collegial spirit, and strong time management skills.

Director of Development

The Director of Development (DOD) is a key member of the Executive Team and with the leadership of
the QM develops and manages the organization and business. They are responsible for and lead on all
aspects of revenue and income generating activities. Joining the QM at the time of exciting capital
expansion and the development of a Children's Museum, the DOD will lead on the development of a
Capital Campaign and a long term Development plan for QM. They will represent the Museum to a
broad spectrum of funders, community leaders, and external stakeholders. They are a member of the
senior team and participate in developing strategy with the Executive Team and Directors Group, and
the development and delivery of policies and a strategic business plan for QM.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the DOD works with the Executive Director and COO to ensure that
development strategies are aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the Queens Museum; lead
and manage the day-to-day activity of all development operations, including government, foundation,
and corporate fundraising; individual cultivation and stewardship, membership, annual fund programs,
and special events and programs.

Institutional Relations & Grants Manager

The Institutional Relations and Grants Manager implements the Queens Museum’s institutional giving strategy by cultivating and stewarding new and existing relationships with private foundations, corporations, and governmental grantmaking agencies. This role is responsible for overseeing a $2 million portfolio of 50 institutional funders and a prospect pipeline. Key responsibilities include business development and relationship management, proposal writing, as well as rigorous tracking of correspondence, and cultivation and events.

Patron Programs Manager

The Public Theater is seeking a Patron Programs Manager. The Patron Programs Manager will work to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors for The Public Theater with a focus on strategies to attract new general gift donors giving below $100 and members giving $100 or more, and to encourage existing members to increase or upgrade their current level of support. This position within the Individual Giving team will report to the Director, Patron Programs and Services.

Development Manager

The Development Manager manages the Membership Program and is in charge of The Bronx Museum’s donor database to ensure excellent data integrity while supporting the overall fundraising, communications and donor cultivation efforts. This position will also perform key duties for the Development office including, but not limited to, writing gift acknowledgements, conducting donor research and tracking, reporting on metrics, and supporting special events, including annual fundraising and cultivation events, the Travel Program, and membership solicitation and renewals.

Development Assistant, Individual Giving—Development

The Development Assistant, Individual Giving position offers the opportunity to play an integral role assisting the Brooklyn Museum’s advancement efforts at a pivotal moment in the Museum’s history.

Responsibilities:

Support the Individual Giving team’s moves management process

Support the Individual Giving team’s fundraising efforts by assisting in the moves management process, including: maintaining prospect lists, tracking fundraising timelines, and project-managing fundraiser tasks

Track the Director of Individual and Major Gifts donor communications in Raiser’s Edge and keep contact records up-to-date

Work with Development Operations to process gifts and pledges, update gift opportunities, and pull reports from the database that further the Individual Giving team’s cultivation and stewardship efforts

Assist the Manager of Individual Giving and Campaigns in conducting research into prospective major gift, patron group, and exhibition donors

Undertake one major writing task per quarter, such as the creation of an exhibition appeal with an accompanying deck or a major gift proposal

Build, maintain, and centralize Individual Giving materials and collateral, such as templates, decks, and other donor communications

Manage Patron Group administrative support

Working with the Associate Development Officer, support the drafting and mailing of both patron group membership renewal notices and gift acknowledgement letters; and prepare membership packets
Facilitate membership benefits fulfillment by coordinating ticket reservations for Museum events, securing parking passes, and supporting tour logistics

Coordinate with Development Operations to ensure that all memberships are up to date
Help manage and support cultivation events, including early-stage planning, pulling invitation lists, generating logistics, tracking RSVPs, supporting check-in, and liaising with vendors
Assist the Director of Individual and Major Gifts

Provide special administrative support to the Director of Individual and Major Gifts, including calendar management, fielding phone calls, drafting correspondence and memoranda, and financial and human resources reporting

Organizing logistics for the Director of Individual and Major Gifts’ donor meetings, both on- and offsite
Compile language about the department’s achievements and challenges to share with Development and Museum leadership

New Work Development Manager

The New Work Development Manager is a project manager and artistic administrator who supports the day-to-day operations of the New Work Development department. The position reports to the Director of New Work Development while directly supporting the Associate Director of New Work Development and Senior Dramaturg.

The Brooklyn Museum is seeking a passionate, forward-thinking, creative, and art-loving individual to fulfill a crucial operations role as Development Assistant.

The Development department is responsible for all fundraising activities, events, and liaising with key stakeholders across donor constituencies. It serves as the focal point of the Museum’s relationships with its supporters and key influencers in the community, as well as with the Museum’s programming and curatorial staff

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
Demonstrated experience using Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising database (e.g., Tessitura) at a nonprofit organization
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong technology skills and computer literacy
Aptitude for maintaining and creating systems, strong analytical ability, and attention to detail required
Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
Responsibilities:

Operations:

Assist with the processing of all gifts received via lockbox, non-lockbox, and online channels, including credit card processing and checks received in-house
Assist with data cleanup and field mapping for CRM transition from Salesforce to Raiser’s Edge
Assist with data cleanup, field mapping, and research for eventual transition to new CRM
Enter and update donor/prospect information in donor database on a regular basis with efficiency and accuracy
Assist all other team members: i.e., Individual, Membership, Corporate, Institutional Giving, and Special Events with related gifts information retrieval
Research:

Assist with conducting research and preparing briefing materials for the Museum’s director, gift officers, and managers of foundation and corporate relations

The Director of Individual Giving is a senior member of City Center’s Development team and is responsible for all facets of the Individual Giving program, inclusive of single donations, such as web and year-end appeal gifts; annual memberships ranging from $100 - $50,000; major gifts; and planned giving. The Director is expected to demonstrate a passion for fundraising while upholding City Center’s mission and our commitment to be an anti-racist organization.

Assistant Manager, Development Operations

The Assistant Manager, Development Operations is an indispensable member of the Development team that is responsible for the operations of the Development team across revenue lines. The Assistant Manager, Development Operations will work closely with all Development team stakeholders to ensure gifts are processed and acknowledged; provide reporting to the Museum’s finance team; the Development team’s intra- and inter-departmental meeting schedule; and general administrative support. The Assistant Manager, Development Operations needs to be highly analytical and detail-oriented, as well as understanding and appreciating the basic elements of fundraising.

Manager of Donor Information and Analysis

The Manager of Donor Information and Analysis is a key member of the Development Department, overseeing the department’s use of the Tessitura database and providing data management, and analysis for all areas within the department to help meet and exceed the annual fundraising goal. This role primarily works with and reports to the Director of Development and the Director of Individual Giving but also interacts directly with the other key members of the department and with the VP of Development. They are responsible for mining the database, using all available tools to identify the top acquisition and upgrade prospects, and refining the Development Department’s list segmentation strategies to help increase membership and other philanthropic giving at City Center. This person also reports on how the Department is performing overall and is responsible for drawing insights and making revenue generating recommendations based on internal and external research and data.

Director, Institutional Giving

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocausts seeks an experienced grants manager and persuasive writer to play a key role in securing education, public program, exhibition, capital, general operations and special project support from foundations, corporations and government agencies.

The Director, Institutional Giving will write highly effective grant proposals; maintain and grow relationships with funders; and create and implement funding plans and strategies to meet the Museum’s philanthropic goals.

In addition, the position will oversee all the Museum’s responsibilities as a Cultural Institutions Group (CIG) member and ensure compliance. The Director manages two direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement creative approaches for building foundation, corporate, government philanthropic support, including multi-year gifts opportunities for a range of institutional priorities;

  • Maintain a portfolio of donors and prospects ensuring effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies;

  • Write and submit effective funding requests, including preparing proposals, budgets and other supplementary materials, to ensure timely, appropriate, and targeted solicitation;

  • Ensure all government compliance, including city (CIG), state and federal agencies and officials;

  • Represent the Museum and interact with all levels of funders, grant officers, and government offices;

  • Lead and mentor a staff of two to oversee all steps of the granting process from research to reporting, ensuring fundraising goals are met;

  • Assist Museum leadership with production of collateral materials, Board reporting, and project management as needed;

  • Work in tandem with departments throughout the Museum to ensure successful crediting and execution of related contractual requirements; and Participate in development-related special events, entailing some evening and weekend hours.
